Roblox wanted to create a broadcast-quality, reality-based series centered around their prestigious internal event, Hack Week. The goal was to showcase the creativity, collaboration, and innovation that define Roblox’s culture while engaging both internal audiences and the broader community.

The project required following multiple teams through an intensive week of development, capturing the authentic emotions, breakthroughs, and challenges of the process. The challenge was to film in a way that felt immersive and cinematic without disrupting the natural flow of each team’s work.

What we did

NRM partnered directly with Roblox to concept, produce, and deliver a high-quality episodic series that documented Hack Week from start to finish.

We developed a production plan that balanced storytelling, logistics, and technical execution. This included:

  • Three full-length episodes that followed five Roblox teams throughout Hack Week.
  • Five short-form deliverables created for social and internal use.
  • Simultaneous photography and video production, with photo assets captured in tandem with video coverage to complement and extend the storytelling.
  • Multiple camera and audio teams working in coordination to capture simultaneous storylines in real time.

A carefully designed crew strategy that ensured coverage was comprehensive yet unobtrusive, allowing participants to stay fully engaged in the experience.

Conclusion

Through close collaboration, technical precision, and a commitment to authentic storytelling, NRM helped Roblox capture the creativity and innovation of Hack Week in a reality-style format. The combination of photography and video produced a cohesive visual narrative that continues to engage audiences and celebrate the spirit of the Roblox community.
